His real name was Richard Walter Jenkins, Jr. He took
his professional name from his former schoolmaster,
Philip Burton. He was born on November 19, 1925 in
Pontrhydyfen, South Wales. He died on August 5, 1984 in
Geneva, Switzerland of a brain hemorrhage. He was
survived by his widow, Sally Hay Burton. He was
previously married to
Sybil Williams (1948-1963)
Elizabeth Taylor twice ( 1964-1974 and 1975-1976)
Susan Hunt (1976-1982) from whom he was divorced in
1982
